Initial game design (complete)
Initial game design for KC was done tabletop-style, with printed out playing cards.

Game Demo MVP (complete)
After the physical playtesting round, we created a digital MVP of the game.
Completed January 2022
Pre-Alpha (complete)
This was a period of playtesting at in-person events in Los Angeles and with anonymous paid playtesters online. We used this period to catch bugs and help balance game mechanics.
Completed April 2022
Alpha 1 (complete)
Completed in December 2022, this was a private playtest for holders of our Genesis Collection.
Tested out core card and character mechanics.
Alpha 2 (complete)
Completed in February-March 2023, this was the second private playtest for holders of our Genesis Collection.
Same goals as alpha 1 with added cards and characters.
Learned a lot about user behavior around some key systems, and ended up removing an early game mechanic known as โStancesโ.
Alpha 3 (complete)
Also known as the Pioneer Event and Fungi Festival.
Featured the release of all new playable characters as well as equipment and the Battle Pass progression system.
Also featured dramatically reworked battle systems, improved UI and UX, new game screens such as character select, and a totally refactored game client that was much more performant.
Completed in H2 2023.
Economy Launch (in progress)
Add key foundational economic features and begin iterating on social, p2p, and community ownership systems as a meta-layer around the core loop. Some key features here are:
Passive earning
Fungible token release
Community ownership over key economy infrastructure
This started in March of 2024 and will last for the rest of the calendar year.

Unity Port (in progress)
Currently expected for 2nd half 2024.
The goal of the Unity port is to reach parity across the browser version of the game.

Currently expected for 2nd half 2024
Will likely happen in several phases with new feature rollouts for each phase
